Every year through the Ember Program, the RP family creates personalized, community-centered projects rooted in service, passion, and storytelling.

For this Ember, it was Tevo Geter, a proud Omaha native, who had sparked the idea to honor Malcolm’s 100th birthday by bringing his story home.

That spark grew into a partnership with the Malcolm X Foundation and a 10-minute film celebrating his centennial and reigniting the urgency of his mission.

Malcolm’s birth in Omaha marked a divine convergence of people, pain, and purpose that helped shape his impact.

It was on this sacred ground where we wove together archival footage, historic interviews, and cinematic vignettes to honor one of history’s most influential people.

We looked back to celebrate his legacy.

We looked down to retrace the paths he walked.

We looked up to thank the ancestors.

And we looked ahead to a new generation rising to lead.

This film features community leaders, organizers, politicians, and the Malcolm X Foundation’s director, all echoing a single charge:

IT’S YOUR TURN NOW.

We were honored to include an interview with John Ewing, who would go on to become Omaha’s first Black mayor shortly after filming.

What began as a tribute now stands as a call to action to embody Malcolm’s spirit for the next 100 years.

May this film spark reflection, fuel inspiration, and deepen your commitment to offering your gifts to create change.

With Love,

Robeson Parks
